Overview:
Thelen Auto Group is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Body Shop Apprentice to join our team and contribute to our continued success. As a Body Shop Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in supporting our body shop operations by performing various tasks that assist our experienced technicians and maintain a clean and organized workspace. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a career in automotive body repair and refinishing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shop Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and orderly shop environment by sweeping, mopping, and organizing tools and equipment. Ensure all work areas are free of debris and hazards to promote a safe and efficient working atmosphere.
  • Accessory Installation: Assist with the installation of vehicle accessories as directed by the body shop technicians. This may include items such as spoilers, trailer hitches, body side moldings, etc.
  • Vehicle Tear Downs: Support the tear-down process by carefully removing and disassembling vehicle parts and components. Follow instructions and ensure that all parts are handled with care to avoid damage.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance and organization of shop tools and equipment. Ensure that all tools are in good working condition and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Assistance to Technicians: Provide general assistance to body shop technicians and other staff as required, including fetching tools, holding parts in place, and other support tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Skills: Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  • Experience: No prior experience required; however, any previous experience in automotive or mechanical work is a plus.
  • Attitude: Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and eagerness to develop skills in the automotive repair field.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday: 8am-8pm
  • Tuesday-Friday: 8am-5:30pm
  • No weekends
